White Bass Wading Trip to East Fork of Whitewater River near Liberty, IN (J Cruse)

Hi everyone,
For those who don’t know me I’m Joe Cruse and I’m the coordinator for the White Bass Wading Trip to the East Fork of the Whitewater River on Thursday April 22, 2021 for NKFF.  I wanted to touch bases with you to make sure where and what time we will be meeting next Thursday morning. I’ve attached a map of the area around Liberty Indiana. We will be meeting at J’s Dairy Inn at 8:00 AM on Thursday April 22, 2021. J’s Dairy Inn’s address is 207 W. Union Street (SR‐44). I’ll get there a bit earlier and I will be driving my GMC dark grey pickup. If you are running late or you get lost, please call my cell at (513) 802‐4008. We will drive down to the river from J’s.

Directions to J’s Dairy Inn 207 W. Union Street (SR‐44) – plug into your GPS and it should be approximately 60‐65 miles from the Northern Kentucky Airport for those coming from that area. If you are coming from Northern Kentucky, I would advise you not to take SR‐1 up to SR‐52 due to the slow trucks on the SR‐1 hill. Stay on I‐275 to I‐74 out to SR‐52.

White Bass are likely to go after any weighted white fly. Chartreuse and white works good too. Trout Candy and Clouser Minnows work well. Hook sizes 6 down to 10. Fly rods 5 wt. is ideal but anything under or over will work just fine. Tippet size 2X (~10 lbs.) if they are easy to catch down to 4X (~6 lbs.) if they are harder to catch.

Today’s (4/16/20201) waterflow is currently 189 ft3/s @ 3.39’. The Weather Channel is calling for no rain until Saturday 24, 2021. The water level should be perfect for next Thursday however they are calling for cooler temperature in the evenings which will affect the water temperature. Hopefully, the White Bass will be moving from Brookville Reservoir into the East Fork Whitewater River.

Remember to renew your Indiana fishing license and we will be practicing social distancing when we are in a group.

Hope to see everyone next Thursday morning at 8;00 AM. Drive safe. If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me on my cell number (below) or respond to this email,

Thank you, Joe Cruse (513) 802‐4008 cell
