Parking: Please Park in the driveway, there should be plenty of room. If there are a lot of people Mark will then direct around to his barn.

Accessibility: There is one pond that is very level and Mark has a golf cart that he can shuttle people that have some mobility challenges. If you have specific questions, we can talk to Mark about specific situations.

What to Bring: Chairs, hat, sunglasses, comfortable clothing, sun block, bug spray, drinks/water, lunch or snacks, rod and whatever fly fishing ‘gear’ you want to use. If it is rainy/dew in the morning boots may be a good idea. I always recommend hats and glasses for safety. They help with the sun too!

What to expect:

Mark and his wife have two nice ponds full of Large Mouth Bass and Bluegill. They are our wonderful hosts this month. Fishing will be catch and release only with fly fishing gear. There are also places to practice casting on the grass and I will demonstrate some knots and how to set up your rod and what to use. I have plenty of flies to share and if someone needs a rod – just let me know and I will bring some extra. I will help get everyone set up (as needed) and then I can work with gals individually for casting, knots, how to take fish off the hook, techniques, etc… We are starting early this month as it is summer, and the fish are the best in the morning before the sun gets too high. If you can’t make it at 8 it is ok to come when you can (between 8 and noon). We will fish and then have some lunch and snacks in the shade, and we can talk about whatever you like! Usually, we have quite a few ladies and it’s a great opportunity to get to know each other. You don’t have to be a member of NKFF as this is an outreach program. I encourage you to bring some of your girlfriends or female colleagues and have them give it a try! It is for ladies only – other NKFF events are all co-ed, but these are specific for gals because it is a very different dynamic when it is only women. Fly fishing can be very intimidating and this style of class has helped many of the women who feel intimidated by our larger co-ed gatherings/classes.
