Katie Johnstone works at Mad River Outfitters in Columbus, OH. She works in the shop full time as well as guides for Smallmouth Bass and Rainbow Trout. Katie is also the President and Co-Founder of Ohio Women on the Fly, a non-profit organization that brings women in Ohio’s fly fishing community together. Katie’s favorite species to fish for are Smallmouth Bass and Carp. She also loves to tie and spends many days at her vise during the colder months.
Through her journey with fly fishing, running OWOTF and guiding, Katie has spent many days fly fishing the Clear Fork River in Mohican State Park. The Clear Fork is a special place to Katie and is one of the few places in Ohio that doesn’t have cell service, which she loves. Katie will present to our group insights and tips on fishing the river for Rainbow Trout. She will cover gear, fly selection, techniques and more. She will also share a couple other rivers in Ohio that you can drive to and fish for trout.
