looking forward to this!
Sadly won’t be able to make this one after all. Tight lines!
Thinking about boondocking at West 6th Brewery Farm, which is a harvest host, or getting a campsite at still waters Friday night if anyone is interested.
All,
Conditions are not looking ideal for Saturday. Water will still be a bit high, even if it doesn’t rain anymore. I see it may rain there a small amount today, possibly. In any case, check the link below. If it doesn’t drop more by tomorrow, I think we may need to cancel. Stay posted! I will send out email notifications today and tomorrow as well.

I think we will change location of this event to Sperti park to fish Gunpowder Creek in Burlington, KY. Water levels are still projected to be well above 3 ft which is not the best fishing conditions. Gunpowder is currently at optimal conditions for fishing and hiking according to the Camp Ernst road gauge below Camp Ernst lake. So, location change. Plan to meet at the Sperti parking lot at 8 a.m. where we’ll wader-up and hike down to fish the creek for Smallmouth, perhaps even trout, and other panfish species. I think a 3-5 wt rod/outfit will suffice along with nymphs, streamers, and dry fly options in your box.
All,
I think we will change the location of this event (was Elkhorn Creek) to Sperti park to fish Gunpowder Creek in Burlington, KY. Water levels are still projected to be well above 3 ft on Saturday for the Elkhorn which is not the best fishing conditions.
However, Gunpowder is currently at optimal conditions for fishing and hiking according to the Camp Ernst road gauge which is just below Camp Ernst lake. So, let’s do a location change.
Plan to meet at the Sperti parking lot at 8 a.m. where we’ll wader-up and hike down to fish the creek for Smallmouth, perhaps even trout, as well as other panfish species.
I think a 3-5 wt rod/outfit will suffice along with nymphs, streamers, and dry fly options in your box.
Please reach out to me personally if you need assistance on the stream. I want to be available to anyone that is new to the sport or wants to learn more while on the stream.
New Location: 6750 Sperti Ln, Burlington, KY 41005
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO FISH SPERTI, please consider helping out with the Kids Derby at Prisoners Lake in Devou park (same time frame).

Jack Randall
