New Destination Trip! Tellico River March 14-17.
Tellico River, Tennessee. This is an exploratory trip to the Tellico and its two major tributaries, the North and the Bald. The Tellico is one of the major trout rivers in Tennessee, holding both stocked and native trout. It is the largest freestone trout stream in Tennessee. The North offers easy access along River Road and holds rainbows, browns and brooks. According to the Tellico Outfitters website, the Bald is the “crown jewel” of the Tellico River System in terms of scenery and fishing. Access requires a bit of a hike, but it sounds rewarding.
I have reserved 4 rooms with 2 queens each at the Quality Inn in Sweetwater, TN, about 20 miles from the Tellico. This will be a pay-as-you-go trip. The rate is $108.28 per night including tax, or $54.14 for double occupancy. If interested, contact me and I can give you the telephone number and a room reservation number for you to put a room in your name.
The Quality Inn offers free breakfast, an indoor pool and laundry facilities. We can pack our own lunches, and assemble at a nearby restaurant for dinner. While we are there we can scout possible cabins and lodges.
In addition to a Tennessee fishing license, a daily permit is required – $6.00 per day. This can be purchased at Tellico Outfitters. I will try to hire a guide for March 15. If anyone wants to share that, let me know.
